It sucks when people are late. We get annoyed with them, but also worry for their safety. Adam Weber presents a similar situation with a morbid twist in The First Date (2018).

In the movie, a man waits impatiently for his blind date to arrive at a swanky restaurant. It isn’t long before he realizes that something has gone wrong…

The film opens with some dizzying camera movements that should warn you that events are already a little off, despite the relatively common setting.

The special effects by Leigh Madden are very impressive. The gore is very realistic, and may even turn a stomach or two. This one’s not for the squeamish…

There’s even a funny disclaimer in the end credits that makes reference to the carnage. Weber’s movie is all about the shock and awe!

The First Date is just like going on a real blind date! You’ll anxiously anticipate what’s coming, but by the time it’s over, you’re going to feel a little gross…
